PJW  AREA 8 RULES – GIRLS

  • Wrestlers must be part of an Area 8 team or club and reside in either Crawford, Erie, Forrest, or Warren Counties
  • A wrestler may only submit 1 Entry.
    • Coaches may request a spreadsheet to submit an entire team. Please contact us for details
  • Wrestlers in grade 7, 8, and 9 with PIAA defined Junior High eligibility may participate in the Junior High Division.
  • No wrestler with PIAA defined Varsity or Jr. Varsity experience will be permitted.
  • An 11 and 12-year-old on a Jr. High roster may choose only 1 PJW tournament series (Youth or Jr. High).
  • Age Division & Weight Class:
    • 8 and Under: 45, 51, 57, 63, 69, 76, 87, 105
    • 9 & 10 YR OLD: 50, 56, 63, 70, 78, 86, 94, 102, 110, 125
    • 11 & 12 YR OLD: 60, 66, 72, 78, 84, 92, 100, 108, 116, 125, 145
    • Junior High: 73,79, 85, 91, 98, 105, 112, 119, 127, 137, 150, 167, 202
    • All wrestlers must pass skin check and weigh-in in legal singlet without any weight allowance
  • Girls MUST enter the Girls division
  • If a Wrestlers does not make weight at weigh-in, He or she may change weight class with approval of Parent/Guardian/Coach and Area Chairman approval is required. 
  • Birth Certificate and proof of residency of both wrestlers must be provided if challenged.
  • Advancing wrestlers must complete the advancement process prior to leaving the tournament.
  • Advancing wrestlers will be required to pay a non-refundable $100.00 apparel fee prior to leaving the tournament.
  • 8U & 10U Championship bout times are 1-1-1 to include 3rd & 4th Place bouts. Overtime is 1 minute sudden death, then 30 second ride out if needed.
  • 8U & 10U consolation bout times are 1-1-1 and Overtime is 1 minute sudden death, then 30 second ride out if needed.
  • 12U Championship bout times are 1:30-1-1 to include 3rd & 4th Place bouts. Overtime is 1 minute sudden death, then 30 second ride out if needed.
  • 12U consolation bout times are 1-1-1 and Overtime is 1 minute sudden death, then 30 second ride out if needed
  • Headgear is required, shoelaces must be secured, PIAA hair rule applies, and a mouth guard is required to cover braces.
  • Full double-elimination format
  • Release and Waiver of Liability Agreement & Participant Code of Conduct form must be completed and brought along to weigh in.
  • Failure to comply with any PJW or PIAA rule will result in disciplinary action and/or forfeiture of participation.
  • Weight classes with 3 or fewer participants will utilize a round-robin format. Round Robin Rules and Criteria
